PRIVATE TOUR - MONSERRATE SANCTUARY
Day 1 Portugal / Bogotá
Departure by flight to Bogotá. Accommodation
Day 2 Bogotá
Breakfast. Half-day visit to the historic center of Bogotá known as La Candelaria; the main square, Plaza de Bolivar, where there is a large statue of the liberator Simon Bolivar, the Cathedral, the Sagrario Chapel, the Capitol. Continue to the Botero Museum, an old colonial house that exhibits some of the master Fernando Botero's works of art and the Gold Museum (closed on Mondays). End at the Sanctuary of Monserrate, a symbol of Bogotá, where you will take a cable car to a height of 500m above Bogotá. The site offers incredible panoramic views of the city on one side and the Andes on the other. Free afternoon.
Day 3 Bogotá / Medellín
Breakfast. Transfer to the airport and flight to Medellín, not only for its numerous shopping centers and commercial areas, but also for the excellence of its fabrics and the ingenuity of the clothes made by Colombian designers.
Day 4 Medellín
Half-day visit to the most representative places of the social transformation that has taken place in Medellín. The tour shows the symbolic areas of Medellín since the 1980s, you will enjoy an exciting journey through the history and present of Medellín and learn more about the transformation of this fascinating metropolis. Today, the "City of Eternal Spring" is one of the most innovative metropolises in the world; the San Javier neighborhood, where you'll reach the Metrocable that connects the northeastern area to the city center and has been a life-changer for many of Medellín's inhabitants. You will discover what happened in the city after Pablo Escobar's death and learn about the innovative transport system in the most vulnerable neighborhoods. Free afternoon.
Day 5 Medellín (El Peñol and Guatapé)
Half board. Departure to the village of Guatapé to visit the huge rock located in this area, which has a reservoir created by the Colombian government for a hydroelectric company and in the middle of the reservoir is the Piedra del Peñol, which is possibly believed to be a meteorite due to its size. Climb the stairs to the top (654 steps) for a panoramic view of the Guatapé reservoir (optional). Next, a visit to the picturesque village of Guatapé, where you can see its famous pastel-painted houses. After lunch, a boat trip around the Guatapé reservoir (30 minutes) before returning to Medellín. Return to the hotel.
Day 6 Medellín / Cartagena de Indias
Breakfast. Flight to Cartagena de Indias, one of the most beautiful cities in South America, via Bogotá. Its location by the Caribbean Sea, its walls, its ancient palaces, its colonial mansions, its monuments and its incredible atmosphere have made it one of the world's leading tourist destinations.
Day 7 Cartagena de Indias
Breakfast and free morning. The afternoon will begin with a visit to the Fortress of San Felipe, built on the hill of San Lazaro to defend the city from pirate attacks. Continue to the Old Town and finish in the craft area of Las Bóvedas.
Day 8 Cartagena de Indias
Breakfast. Free day in which we recommend visiting the dark sand beach; strolling "at your leisure" through the old colonial city; strolling through the Bóvedas and its craft stores, visiting the Rosario Islands... and "living" Cartagena's nightlife.
Day 9 Cartagena de Indias / Portugal
Breakfast. Departure on a flight back to Portugal, via Bogotá. Night on board.
Day 10 Portugal
Arrival.
Our services
Regular flight, economy class (reservations in special classes). Bed and breakfast. 1 lunch (drinks not included). Private transfers. Visits in private service with local guides in Spanish, except in Cartagena in regular service (shared with other clients). Travel insurance.
