Day 1 Portugal / Tbilisi

Departure by flight to Tbilisi, by the chosen route. Night on board.

Day 2 Tbilisi

Arrival and accommodation. Breakfast. Start with a visit to the city of Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia, visiting the Metekhi Church, Meteji, situated on a cliff overlooking the Mtkvari River, the defensive fortress of Narikala, which dates back to the 4th century. You can go down the stairs of the fortress and see the city. You will visit the sulphur baths of ancient Tbilisi, the Sioni Church on the bank of the Mtkvari River. On the way, you will come across the Anchisjati Church, the oldest church in Tbilisi, which houses the miraculous image of Jesus Christ. Stroll along Rustaveli Avenue, the city's main street, with a visit to an art studio where you can learn about traditional handicrafts. Free afternoon.

Day 3 Tbilisi / Sighnaghi / Kakheti / Tbilisi

Breakfast. Departure for Kakheti, a region famous for its wines. Visit to the Bodbe Convent, where the relics of Saint Nina are kept, now an important pilgrimage center. Departure for Signagui, the "City of Love", one of Georgia's smallest cities, famous for its wines and traditional carpets, its wall and the 23 towers that surround the city. Wine tasting at a local winery. Return to Tbilisi.

Day 4 Tbilisi / Mskheta /Gudauri

Breakfast. Departure for Mskheta, Georgia's holiest city and the country's ancient capital. Start the visit by climbing the hill where one of the city's three World Heritage churches stands: the Jvari church. The site is worth a visit even if the church didn't exist. From the hill, you'll enjoy a beautiful view of Mskheta and the confluence of the two rivers Mtkvari and Aragvi. Soon you will see the Svestitskhoveli Cathedral, which you will visit later. You will take a pleasant walk (approx. 3 hours) to visit the Trinity Church in Guerguetti.

Day 5 Gudauri / Ananuri / Akhaltsikhe

Breakfast. Departure along the Georgian Military Road to Ananuri, to visit the Ananuri architectural complex. The project is characteristic of the late medieval period and includes a fortress, two churches, an old watchtower, a prison and other civic buildings. Departure for Uplistsije, an ancient city carved out of the rock located in central Georgia, about 10 km east of the city of Gori. It has several buildings dating from the Iron Age to the late Middle Ages and is known for its unique combination of various styles of Anatolian and Iranian cave cultures, as well as the coexistence of pagan and Christian architecture. Departure for Gori, visits to the Lenin Museum and his house. Drive to Akhaltsikhe, passing Borjomi Park to taste its famous mineral water.

Day 6 Akhaltsikhe / Javakheti / Tbilisi

Breakfast. Departure to visit Rabati Castle, a fortress in Ajaltsije, Georgia. Originally established in the 9th century as the castle of Lomisa, it was completely rebuilt by the Ottomans. Stop for photos at the Khertvisi fortress. Departure for Vardzia, a complex of caves and tunnels, practically a city. Its unique location responded to the need to defend it against the Mongols. It had more than six thousand rooms on thirteen floors, as well as a church, a throne room and an irrigation system for the terraced crops. It houses an excellent example of medieval Georgian painting. Continue to Tbilisi.

Day 7 Tbilisi / Portugal

Departure on a flight back to Portugal. Arrival.
